President Donald Trump has suspended US entry for a range of foreign workers, including highly skilled tech workers, managers being transferred within companies and seasonal workers. An administration official says the action creates job openings for 525,000 Americans, but business groups say the move hinders economic recovery.

A server with billions of records of internet users' online activity and personal data -- including names, purchase history, home addresses, web browsing history, and hardware and operating system details -- was left unsecured by Oracle-owned BlueKai, which provides tracking data for marketers' use. BlueKai tracks many of the world's biggest websites, including Amazon, Forbes, ESPN, Glassdoor and The New York Times.

Apple confirms chip switch, offers details of iOS 14

Apple has confirmed that it will switch to using its own chips, rather than Intel's, for Mac laptops and desktops, and it has unveiled details of its iOS 14 upgrade, including widgets on the home screen and an app for real-time translation. The update, which will work on iPhones going back to the 2016 iPhone SE and 2015 iPhone 6s Plus, will enter beta testing before it is introduced in the fall.

Microsoft is buying security firm CyberX as part of a wider initiative to accelerate and secure deployment of internet of things devices. "CyberX will complement the existing Azure IoT security capabilities, and extends to existing devices including those used in industrial IoT, operational technology and infrastructure scenarios," Microsoft executives wrote in a blog post.
