Discovery will expand its Spanish-language offerings by introducing Hogar de HGTV June 30 for Cox Contour and Aug. 1 for Charter Spectrum. The network will broadcast original content as well as programming developed on Discovery, HGTV and Food Network.

Verizon touted successful tests of technology for dynamic spectrum sharing on low-band frequencies, which the carrier said should allow it to introduce 5G service nationwide this year. Millimeter-wave high-band spectrum will remain Verizon's primary means of deploying its 5G Ultra Wideband service.
Tim Hoettges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom, said that the German company will retain control of T-Mobile after SoftBank sells its 23% share, as it has the right of first refusal on the stock. Hoettges also discussed plans to take T-Mobile to the top of the US carrier ranks, a move analysts believe is possible due to assets it gained from Sprint.
Jeff Shell, NBCUniversal's CEO, has not been shy about changing priorities at the Comcast-owned entertainment giant since he took over the job in January. He has shifted resources to Peacock and taken on theater franchises by premiering films as video-on-demand content.
Ad fraud associated with connected TVs jumped 161% during the first quarter of 2020, compared with the same period last year, and there were 500 fraudulent apps associated with the media, which is more than those counted for the entirety of 2019, according to DoubleVerify. Meanwhile, Nielsen estimates that households with connected TVs spent 2.7 billion hours watching programming the first week of March and 4 billion hours the week of April 6.
Several Black video creators are suing YouTube and Google, its parent company, over alleged racial discrimination in automated metadata and filtering tools. Susan Wojcicki, YouTube's chief executive officer, says the platform plans to investigate the complaint.
Hulu used its NewFronts presentation to announce GatewayGo, an ad unit that enables consumers to request additional details to be pushed to their phone or tablet via email or QR code with SmileDirectClub, The RealReal and Sweetgreen signing on as initial users. Hulu is also partnering with Nielsen Media Impact to help marketers with campaign reach metrics.
