Politics and policy have been one of the main drivers of actions as well as inefficiencies in the fight against AIDS. Prevention campaigns, early diagnosis, treatment and adherence programs, PrEP,… the tools are there and combined they form a virtuous circle.
But be it inconsistent funding for successful programs or social stigma blocking help from getting to the people who need it most, activists and public health professionals raise the alarm that even some relatively wealthy countries are struggling to close the remaining gaps in the fight against the epidemic.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Winnie Byanyima, executive director, UNAIDS
- Stéphane De Wit, chief of the Department of Infectious Diseases, St Pierre University Hospital
- Teymur Noori, expert in HIV and Migrant Health, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC)
- Patrick Reyntiens, HIV expert
|
This event, presented by Gilead, is closing the POLITICO Telescope project by convening a panel of policy makers, medical professionals, patients and health experts to debate on what has to be done to ensure an effective and harmonized European and national response to AIDS.
We hope to welcome you virtually at our event!
