Good morning, Tribune readers. Our reporters will cover a meeting today between the Multicultural Commission and Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, which will address systemic racism in the state. It comes after an emergency meeting last month in which members of Utah's Black community spoke for more than two hours about the injustices they've faced and provided policymakers with specific ideas for change. Gov. Gary Herbert committed then to reconvene a month later to share the next steps state leadership plans to take. It's going to be even hotter today in Salt Lake County, with a high of 95 degrees. Drink water and wear sunscreen. — Kelly Cannon | |
