Wolverine's favorite exercise

Hugh Jackman from the Wolverine movies has been pretty open about how he trains on twitter and such. The picture below proves it. First this question...

### READER COMMENT ###
"Hey Mehdi, first thank you for Stronglifts 5x5. It's simple and it works. Today I finally busted through plateaus on squat and bench and it feels great. Anyways, I've been looking into how celebrities train for movies (Thor, Captain America, Wolverine) and noticed they all trained using heavy, compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, bench, etc. just like us. Can't say I'm surprised haha."

*** MY COMMENTS ***
Yeah, feels good to know even the "pro's" train the same way!

I mean, years ago I shared Thor's "secret" workout on StrongLifts.com

Turns out Thor actor Chris Hemsworth got in shape doing a lot of heavy, free weight, compound exercises like the Squat.

Then the Superman movie "Man of Steel" came out.

And a picture popped up of Superman actor "Henry Cavil" deadlifting +400lb to get in shape for the movie.

But my favorite example is Hugh Jackman from Wolverine and X-men.

That guy has one of the most impressive physiques in Hollywood...

... he never "falls off the bandwagon" (unlike a lot of actors)...

... he's almost 50y old (which is supposedly "too old" to gain)

... and he seems to love to train HARD and HEAVY.

Did you see that picture he shared on twitter a while ago?

This one...

That's a 210kg Deadlift - 460lb. No light weight.

Jackman actually said: "If the bar isn't bending, you're pretending!" Lol.

(some critics were quick to yell "chicken legs!" I'll talk about calves in a few days)

Now, I won't claim these actors do nothing else than heavy, free weight, compound exercises.

But we know they have busy schedules with limited time to train and get in shape for movies.

We also know they usually pay personal coaches big bucks to help them gain muscle fast.

And they wouldn't make them Squat and Deadlift unless they believed that works best.

And it does - compounds work several muscles at the same time, with heavy weight.

It's why StrongLifts 5x5 works, and it makes me wonder if they use my apps :)

Keep it simple.

P.S. And there's also "The Mountain" from Game of Thrones played by Hafthor Bjornsson. He's a strongman who built his massive body by Deadlifting 994lb/450kg and such. Check this video...
