Maxthon has released the sixth version of its browser in beta with an eye on the "metanet," where users would be able to earn from their data, content, online activity and identity, as well as eliminate intrusive advertising, trolling and bots. The browser features VBox, which allows users to create identities on the blockchain that can be used for online applications and payments.

IBM releases AI tools to help workplaces reopen safely

IBM has launched Watson Works, a set of products that uses Watson's artificial intelligence models and applications to help enterprises navigate return-to-workplace challenges as offices reopen. It will provide data-based suggestions to help employers make decisions on facilities management, space allocation and other safety concerns.

Twitter begins audio tweet test for iOS

Twitter is enabling a select group of iOS users to record up to 140 seconds of audio snippets and attach them to tweets, and it plans to roll out the service to all iOS users. "There's a lot that can be left unsaid or uninterpreted using text, so we hope voice tweeting will create a more human experience for listeners and storytellers alike," senior software engineer Remy Bourgoin and staff product designer Maya Patterson wrote in a blog post.

Ransomware operators often continue digging in compromised networks even as the breaches are being investigated and negotiations are underway, and in one recent case, the documents they leaked to prove their infiltration included the victim's IT department report on the attack. Experts say incident response teams should assume attackers are still inside networks and should choose an outside communication channel to discuss the attack.

N. Korea reportedly launching extensive phishing campaign

North Korean cybercriminal organization Lazarus Group appears to be launching a coronavirus-related phishing campaign aimed at India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK and the US, reports Cyfirma, a cybersecurity startup backed by Goldman Sachs. The campaign, which uses fake emails purporting to be from government agencies overseeing emergency financial aid for businesses, could be targeting millions of people.

Ajit Pai, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, is asking Congress to back up 785 internet service providers that signed on to the Keep Americans Connected Pledge.
