How hotels are filling the large-meeting gap

Convention hotels and others that rely on the large-meeting segment are less likely to recover until a coronavirus vaccine or effective treatment is available, analysts say. Some companies, such as Accor, have developed meeting- and event-oriented safety standards, while others are promoting hotel space for businesses that want to get rid of permanent offices and are partnering with local shops, restaurants and tour groups to boost midweek leisure travel.

Disney's NBA deal will put spotlight on resort's safety

A "self-contained ecosystem" for 22 NBA teams at Disney World in Florida starting in late July will engender plenty of goodwill for the resort and offer endless views of its many hotels and theme parks as backdrops during coverage of the season's games. "For Disney, this deal offers not only an invaluable promotional opportunity, but also a chance to demonstrate to fans and tourists that it can keep them safe at its parks," Jeremy Bowman writes.

134-year streak stays alive at Mackinac's Grand Hotel

TripAdvisor traffic drops by more than half in Q2

More than 1,500 lots -- including historical silver and crystal, ashtrays and bathrobes -- from the Paris Ritz hotel will be auctioned Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The famous hotel on Place Vendome hosted luminaries such as Ernest Hemingway, Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel, and its auction of furniture two years ago netted seven times the estimated value.
