This is what you should do:
Step 1: choose between Tesla Model 3 or $ 25k cash
Step 2: copy   your personal referral link   below
Step 3: Share your link with everyone you know. Send emails, post them on social media, and deliver them to your inbox; we don't care, the most fun is. Each friend who signs up through their link gives them an additional entry into the giveaway.
Step 4: Cross your fingers and see who wins after July 3rd!

Hey there my fellow deal seeker, We’re selling a Tesla for the low discount rate of 100% off. So, yes…we’re giving a Tesla away.

That’s certainly an easier way to say it. But there’s a catch.

You see, The Hustle is a free daily business and tech newsletter.

Each morning our writers send out the most interesting tech and business news to millions of people. So, here’s the catch: By signing up for this giveaway, you’re also joining our free daily email. Don’t worry. It’s FREE. And if you hate it, just click unsubscribe.

But I think you should try it. I mean, one person in Kansas City wrote us and said The Hustle is cooler than a sourdough starter. Whatever that means…

So, enter your email above. On or about July 3rd, 2020, we’ll randomly select someone to giveaway a Tesla too. And tomorrow, after you sign up, check your email for your first email from us.

If it sucks, just click unsubscribe and you’ll never hear from us again. But I bet you, you might just love it. See ya!

New York City’s reopening begins

It must be especially strange   for students who are now graduating. To help make the season feel more natural, YouTube aired a star-studded virtual start on Sunday, with speeches by Beyonce, Taylor Swift, BTS, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and former President Barack Obama.

You can read the text of Michelle's strong notes   here   , but we think this message from her speech was a good note to start the week with: "Treating people correctly will never fail."
Note:   Congratulations to Alison Bates, Emma Copland, Kate Turner, Arnaud Moncusen and Alexander Remtula, winners of the Trends Contest last week. Look in your inbox for more details on your free one-year subscription to the Trends app   .

What to Expect When New York City Starts to Reopen

Today is a great milestone for the Big Apple: New York City,   which begins   the first phase of its reopening.

This is what you should know

The coronavirus has affected New York City more than any other American city, with   200,000   deaths and 20,000 deaths. Almost 900,000 jobs disappeared during the outbreak.
Other areas of New York State are already reopening: The city was the last of 10 regions to meet all required health metrics. On Sunday morning, Mayor Bill de Palacio lifted the curfew imposed during protests over the death of George Floyd.
The first stage of reopening means that retailers can return to business only by picking up inside the store and only inside the store. Construction companies, manufacturers, and wholesalers can also resume work.
Companies must certify their ability to meet security standards. About 25,000 in the city did so as of last week, according to   the Wall Street Journal   .
  • The first stage could return up to 400,000 workers to their jobs.
  • The   city  estimated  ~ 16,000 nonessential business companies to reopen, along with 3.7,000 factories.

Don't expect Times Square to fill up right away

If you are a subway driver, you will have no problem finding this required seat - the New York City Transportation Authority expects the ride to be   only ~ 20%   of the normal range.
Many large and small businesses in New York City will not open immediately. Tell retailers like Coach, Kate Spade, Ulta Beauty, Tiffany and Co.  Bloomberg   , either they didn't define plans to reopen, or they wouldn't restart the lights right away.
Some retailers are eagerly awaiting the start of the New York City Second Phase, which can begin in a few weeks: Allows restaurants to resume cookouts and retailers welcome 50% customers again.

HIDDEN

Who enforces the company's mask policies?

Perhaps you will hear endless guarantees in the coming weeks from airlines about their safety standards. Here's one:   Based on   WHO recommendations ,   all passengers are expected to wear masks   .
But when it comes to that, these policies have no teeth. Airlines still take on people without masks, according to   the New York Times   . A frequent Delta traveler tweeted, "What's the use asking if there's no follow-up?"
This creates a strange tension: airlines want travelers to feel safe. But they are concerned about banishing customers who don't wear the mask who have already bought tickets.

Are you not wearing a muzzle? JetBlue will kick you out

The   language  varies  slightly by airline: the southwest will continue to travel on customers who refuse to wear masks, while JetBlue says it definitely won't. Others, like the Americans or the United States, are hiding. In some cases, they say, they may deny boarding.
A United spokesman said the stewardesses would first remove customers "to understand their concerns and discuss options" and that refusing to board the plane was "the last resort."

The dilemma goes beyond the airline business.

The greatest burden of enforcing the rules often falls on the shoulders of lower-level employees.
A target worker   told   Vox   last month that he is wearing a "Please hold 6 feet" pin on his shirt, but customers are still climbing up and touching his shoulder.
Workers sometimes have to deal with customers who are overheated, if not   violent   .  Some organizations, such as the Michigan Retail Association, are  planning  escalation mitigation training to help employees deal with these confrontations.

Scientists Funded By Chan Zuckerberg Speak Against Facebook

First Mark Zuckerberg was roasted by his staff. Over the weekend, the scientists who supported him stirred the heat.
More than 140 scientists funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the charity group founded by Facebook CEO and wife, Priscilla Chan, said the book   did not follow its own policies   regarding President Trump.

Now they want more

In   a speech   Saturday, scientists called Trump's latest paper on protests over the death of George Floyd ("When the looting begins, the shooting begins") "a clear statement of incitement to violence."
Twitter added a warning sign to Trump's tweet in the same language, but Zuckerberg decided to allow the Facebook version of the post to stand up.
The scientists wrote: "The spread of intentional disinformation and divisive language directly contradicts" the mission of the Chan Zuckerberg initiative.
They asked Zuckerberg to "think of stricter policies on disinformation and inflammatory language that harms people or groups of people."

They can get their wish

For his part, Zuck said at the   end of   Friday night that the company would review options for dealing with violated content "regardless of whether the binary leaves that phone or makes those decisions."

To diversify Reddit Board, one of the company's founders resigned

There are two types of people in the world: those who know Alexis Ohanyan as the husband of Serena Williams and those who know him as one of the three founders of Reddit.
On Friday, 15 years later,    Ohanian  announced  that he would leave the Reddit Council and asked to replace him with a black executive. Approved  Reddit  CEO  Steve Hoffman   on  the plan.

Reddit is getting more dangerous

Ohanian has not been active on Reddit Day since 2018, but his decision is a big step: instead of just talking to diversify   entire  directory   company   white   , is already doing.
"I think resignation may be a leadership action by people in power now," he wrote in a blog post.
Not only that, but Ohanian has made all of his earnings on future Reddit stocks, possibly up to $ 50 million, according to   TechCrunch   , "to serve the black community."
